A mere month and a half after securing promotion to the Men's Superliga, Club Voleibol Playas de Benidorm has made its first official decisions regarding the upcoming debut season in the top tier. For now, while awaiting news of the first contract renewals and, importantly, the names of new signings for the men's team, the main headline revolves around the coaching staff. As expected, the board of the Raúl Mesa Pavilion club has entrusted Adriano Lamb, their coach for the past two seasons, with leading their first project in the elite league.
In a statement released this Wednesday, the club described the Brazilian coach as "a key figure in the sporting growth of Servigroup Playas de Benidorm in recent years." This trust extends beyond the head coach, as Iván Navarro will continue as the assistant coach, maintaining the duo that achieved the greatest sporting success in the club's history.
Following the official announcement of his renewal, Lamb expressed his gratitude, stating he is "immensely thankful to the club for the trust placed in me and for giving me the opportunity to fulfil a dream, which is none other than to lead the team in the top division, the Men's Superliga."
Although many details about the squad's composition for the next season have yet to be disclosed, the Brazilian coach is "convinced that the club will make a great effort to assemble a highly competitive squad to achieve the goal of establishing ourselves in the league against very strong and historic teams that will make us thrill our fans."
Farewell to Igor Hernández
Simultaneously, Club Voleibol Playas de Benidorm has confirmed the departure of veteran Igor Hernández after five seasons with the men's team. At 48, Hernández's role over this period extended beyond his on-court contributions; he was a leader in the locker room, playing a crucial part in uniting the growing group that, year after year, made history culminating in their promotion.
Additionally, on the women's side, the departure of Russian player Elena Sviridova has also been confirmed. She was the last to join Noelia Santacreu's team in the recently concluded season.
