The 'Plan Vive' continues to make strides in the province of Alicante and the Generalitat has awarded the construction of two new housing developments in Elche and the city of Alicante. The Department of Housing has progressed in mobilising public and available land and in constructing 72 new protected homes in Elche and another 29 in the Garbinet area.
Both developments will total 16 public homes, 11 in Elche and five in Alicante. In Elche, the development will be located at Abogados de Atocha Street 5 in the Los Palmerales neighbourhood and has been awarded to the construction company Albaluz Desarrollos Urbanos S.L. In Alicante, the vice-presidency has announced the award to Fama Rehabilitaciones S.L.U. Both have 20 days to provide the necessary documentation.
It should be noted that with the new Public Protection Housing (VPP) decree of the Generalitat, 40% of protected homes are reserved for young people up to 35 years old, and the rent is adjusted to facilitate access to these properties.
The Minister of Housing, Susana Camarero, expressed her satisfaction with the "good pace that the 'Plan Vive' is taking" and the reception it has received, both from the municipalities offering land and from construction companies. "We are facing a real plan that will address the urgent need for housing we have, facilitating access to affordable housing," Camarero assured.
Moreover, this plan "will also generate public wealth as a significant percentage of these new homes will become part of the public housing stock of the Generalitat or the municipalities themselves."
During December, the First Vice-Presidency, through the Valencian Housing and Land Entity (EVha), initiated the tender process for the construction of more than 1,600 public protection homes through public-private collaboration via future work exchange. It was noted that "in less than two years, 1,853 public promotion homes have been tendered for purchase or affordable rent compared to the 1,101 of the Botanic in eight years."
