La Sexta's next goal is to find the best amateur pianist. The Atresmedia channel premieres 'The Piano' on Tuesday, November 26, at 10:30 PM, a local adaptation of the acclaimed British format that blends a passion for music with the emotional stories of its participants. Singer Ruth Lorenzo will lead the new show, where Pablo López and Mika have been chosen as judges to find the best talents.

'The Piano' is an adaptation of a format that has taken the UK by storm, becoming last year's television revelation. According to data released by the media group, 'The Piano' was the best debut of a new entertainment program in the last six years on Channel 4. It has also been sold to the Netherlands (RTL4), Denmark (TV2), and has confirmed a second and third season in the UK due to the success of the first series.

In fact, the winner of the first edition, Lucy, was chosen by the British Royal Family to perform at the coronation of Charles III. Produced by Atresmedia Television in collaboration with Fremantle Spain, it has received critical acclaim, winning awards such as the best competition reality at the Rose D'Or Awards and the best original program at The Broadcast Awards.

The main novelty of 'The Piano' is the way they will find the best pianists. The program travels to various iconic locations across the country, inviting amateur artists to sit at pianos in train stations, airports, or on the street, where they must play in front of people and impress with their talent and stories.

Panel of Experts

However, these performances are secretly followed by two acclaimed pianists who observe their skills from very close, in a hidden room. At the end of each episode and auditions, participants are gathered in one place to discover who the acclaimed professional pianists are. After seeing them play the piano, the professionals will explain what they are looking for and announce the episode's winner. Both will play together as a gift to celebrate the program's triumph.

For singer Ruth Lorenzo, returning as a presenter after her stint at Junior Eurovision 2024 held in Madrid, 'The Piano' connects with people who express their love for music. "We see a lot of truth, and that's refreshing in today's television. It touches the heart," predicts the Murcian artist. Mika, on the other hand, explains that this format is a "window to the lives" of those who do not have the opportunity to tell their story. "Music is inexplicable; being able to convey it with a piano is a blessing and heart-wrenching," emphasizes López, the other jury member.
