The province of Alicante has more than 800 active pharmacies. Of these, around 150 are located in the capital. Residents of Alicante are fortunate to have one of the provinces with the highest number of pharmacies in all of Spain. Specifically, Alicante ranks fifth, only behind Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Seville.

The truth is that for most on-duty pharmacies across Spain, it is not entirely profitable to offer an on-duty service. If some pharmacies choose to provide this service, it is primarily due to their altruistic commitment to society.
