Ana Peleteiro will not participate in the European Team Championships taking place in Madrid next weekend. The Galician athlete announced this Sunday that "due to personal reasons of greater force," she will not be attending the European event. "I wanted to thank the support and understanding of the Athletics Federation, all my teammates, and the sponsors. Heartfelt thanks to everyone," Ana Peleteiro wrote in the statement announcing her absence from the championship, without specifying the reasons behind her decision to withdraw from the competition.
Following Peleteiro's statement, the Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA) responded with a message expressing their full support for the European triple jump champion. "We regret to announce that, due to personal reasons of greater force, Ana Peleteiro will not be able to participate in the European Team Championships in Madrid 2025. We are with you. Always," read the statement from the organization led by Raúl Chapado.
Peleteiro's replacement in the triple jump at the European Team Championships, scheduled to take place from June 27 to 29, will be Valencian María González Sanchís. "The entire team is with you, María, and we know that the Vallehermoso crowd will be too," noted the RFEA when announcing the athlete who will take the Galician's place.
