Pedro Rocha, who until recently was the president of the Spanish Football Federation (FEF), has faced a significant setback in his attempt to participate in the upcoming elections for the presidency of Spanish football. The Central Administrative Litigation Court No. 2 of the National Court has denied the precautionary measure he requested to temporarily suspend the two-year disqualification imposed by the Administrative Court of Sport (TAD), according to Iusport.
This disqualification, issued on July 16th, stemmed from the dismissal of the Federation's Secretary General, Andreu Camps, a decision that, according to the TAD, could not have been made unilaterally by Rocha in his capacity as President of the Management Committee. The TAD considered that this measure should have been collectively agreed upon by the entire Committee.
Rocha had argued that he acted under instructions from the Higher Sports Council (CSD) during the crisis faced by the women's national team, when several world champion players expressed their desire not to continue with the team unless significant changes were made to the federation's staff, including Camps' departure. Rocha maintained that Camps' contract termination was subsequently approved by the FEF, which was evidenced by Camps not filing any lawsuit in court.
