Pedri will remain a Barcelona player until 2030. The club announced on Thursday what had been an open secret, as the Canary Islands footballer signed a contract that includes a significant salary increase, tying him to the club led by Joan Laporta for the next six years. This move ensures that the team retains a key component of Flick's project, continuing to secure future talents like Gerard Martín and Ronald Araujo, who have already visited the offices, preceding operations involving players like Gavi or Lamine Yamal.

Barcelona is clear that the priority at the start of this year is to secure all the young talent already present in the squad. This strategy has led to operations involving Gerard Martín, Araujo, and now Pedri, a player increasingly influential in the team. The Canary Islander has already played 2,460 minutes, surpassing last season's total. Only Koundé (2,722), Raphinha (2,627), and Pau Cubarsí (2,560) have played more than Barcelona's midfield maestro, who under Flick's guidance has adapted to both the double pivot and attacking midfielder roles. "I haven't enjoyed myself this much in a long time. We have a young team that will be better in a few years. Exciting times are ahead for Barcelona fans," he stated in his first words after signing the contract.

Pedri's impressive performance has not gone unnoticed by the sporting management led by Deco. The former Portuguese midfielder has taken no chances and, as soon as possible, offered the Canary Islander a renewal that includes a salary increase but does not alter the €1 billion release clause that has been in place since 2021. "I am very happy to renew and to be where I want to be. Now I must repay the trust on the pitch and win titles. This Barcelona is built for that," he remarked.

Another one for Deco

Pedri's renewal does not mark the end of the work in Barcelona's offices. The club now looks towards renewing Gavi, who could be the next to sign, and hopes to secure Lamine Yamal soon, with whom there is a very good rapport. "I don't know when, but I think it will be soon. Ultimately, Barcelona is the club of my life. I hope to renew with them and stay as long as possible," Lamine acknowledged earlier this month in an interview with CNN. Following these, Deco will turn his attention to Frenkie de Jong, whose contract expires in June 2026, with the club hoping to find a solution as soon as possible.
