Paulina Rubio and Nicolás Vallejo-Nájera, better known as Colate, have been embroiled in a legal and media battle for thirteen years, complicating their relationship. Since their separation in 2012, they have been involved in numerous legal disputes, primarily concerning the custody of their son, Andrea Nicolás. The latest development has seen the singer enter family therapy due to alleged physical abuse of the minor.

According to a police report revealed by the program 'Despierta América', the incident began when Andrea returned home and said something described as "horrible" by Paulina Rubio's defense, prompting the singer to punish her son. From this point, conflicting accounts emerge. While the "Golden Girl" vehemently denies any violent act, Colate's lawyer, Daniel Kent, claims the teenager was physically assaulted by his mother. Furthermore, he alleges she confiscated his mobile phone, his only means of contacting his father, which caused a strong emotional reaction.

Meanwhile, Amber Glasper, the social worker appointed by the Florida court to represent the minor, confirms that the child described the punishment as an assault. She also notes that the young boy has repeatedly expressed his desire to live in Spain, something his father has already echoed.

Currently, the case of the alleged assault remains unresolved, but Judge Marlene Fernández has taken an initial step by ordering Paulina Rubio and her son to undergo family therapy. The singer's defense has agreed with this decision. The judge aims to de-escalate the conflict, adding another chapter to the long list of disputes between the former couple.

Amidst this controversy, Colate has also criticized his son's appearance on a magazine cover alongside the singer and his younger brother. "No one asked for my permission, and of course, it is needed," the businessman stated, also pointing out his son's apparent discomfort with the situation: "You only have to look at my son's face to realize he is not comfortable," he emphasized.

Following the couple's separation thirteen years ago, it wasn't until 2014 that joint custody of the minor was made official. In 2019, Paulina accused Colate of hiding their son's whereabouts during his time with him, preventing regular contact with the minor. A year later, in 2020, Colate sought full custody of the child, citing Paulina's unstable behavior. Among the evidence, the businessman included a social media video showing the artist's erratic behavior. This request was dismissed, maintaining joint custody.

Another dispute occurred in March of this year. Colate picked up his son from school half an hour earlier than usual to celebrate his birthday, prompting Paulina to file an urgent lawsuit, arguing he might abduct the minor. The judge then ordered the immediate confiscation of the child's passport, preventing him from traveling to Spain.

The legal battles continue, with no end in sight.
