The Civil Guard of Albacete has reported the owner of a dog for an animal abuse crime for having abandoned it injured in a trash can. The animal, which ended up dying from the injuries sustained despite having received veterinary care, was accidentally run over by its owner when he was parking his car in the garage of his home in Mingogil, a district of Hellín (Albacete).
Instead of taking it to the veterinarian, he put it in a sack and threw it into a trash can. The dog's howls alerted a neighbor, who notified the animal protection organization "Refugio de Sori" in Hellín, which took charge of the animal initially. Due to the severe injuries the dog had - various head wounds and a fracture in one of its legs - it was transferred to a veterinary clinic in Hellín for urgent care. The next day it was transferred again to the "Fundacion Animal Rescue" in the Community of Madrid, where, after undergoing several surgeries, its life could not be saved.
The Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) of the Civil Guard of Hellín became aware of these events through various social networks where the case was publicly reported. The agents managed to verify that the dog, a 17-year-old Yorkshire Biewer named Tobi, belonged to a resident of the Mingogil district, who has now been reported for an animal abuse crime.
