On Tuesday, May 6th, the Alicante Port Authority will join the Nautical Day organised by the Provincial Union of Associations for the Mentally Disabled of Alicante (Upapsa) and the Spanish Confederation of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities (Cocemfe), in collaboration with the company Cruceros Kontiki, the Royal Yacht Club of Alicante, and the NGO La Mar Solidaria.
More than a hundred people from associations and entities in the disability sector will participate from 10:30 AM to 1 PM in a morning full of adapted activities. The programme includes a boat ride in Alicante Port aboard the Kontiki, as well as thematic workshops: 'Nautical Winds and Sounds', 'Knots and Materials', and 'Sustainable Crafts', designed to bring the maritime world closer to all attendees, regardless of their abilities.
The day's events will begin with the reception of participants at the headquarters of the Alicante Port Authority, where the president, Luis Rodríguez, will welcome the attendees.
Following this, an explanation of the port's operations will be offered in a room prepared for the event. Subsequently, participants will move to the Royal Yacht Club of Alicante, where the workshops will take place. The Kontiki ride, guided by a port engineer, will allow attendees to experience first-hand the port activity and the maritime sector of Alicante.
The main objective of the day is to promote inclusion and accessibility in the maritime-port environment, raising awareness in society about the importance of removing barriers and promoting equal opportunities.
