More than 900 graduates in healthcare-related fields are vying for their future this Saturday in Alicante. It is the day when the Specialised Healthcare Training exams are scheduled, offering them the chance to secure a position in the province's public healthcare system. In total, 911 candidates will sit the exams in Alicante, part of the 32,212 nationwide.
There are 385 positions available in Alicante across seven different disciplines, namely Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Psychology, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. As usual, Medicine has the most vacancies by far, with 287 in Alicante alone; followed by Nursing (71); Pharmacy (12); Psychology (10); Biology (2); Chemistry (2); and Physics (1).
The Ministry of Health states that this is a "record offer," with a 2.9% increase in the number of positions compared to last year (366 more positions) nationwide. Specifically, Medicine has the largest number of positions with 9,007 (a 3% increase). The specialty with the most positions is Family and Community Medicine with 2,508 positions. A total of 15,106 doctors are vying for these positions.
The Nursing degree offers 2,171 positions, a 3% increase from the previous call. The Nursing specialty with the most positions is Family and Community Nursing with 919 positions. There are 10,023 nursing candidates.
In other fields, there are 352 positions in Pharmacy with 1,483 candidates, 274 positions offered in Psychology with 3,847 candidates, 63 positions in Biology with 1,154 candidates, 51 positions in Physics with 322 candidates, and 25 positions in Chemistry with 248 candidates.
The exams will consist of 200 questions plus 10 reserve questions, starting at 4:00 PM, although candidates will enter the classrooms from 3:00 PM. In Alicante, the exams will be held in Lecture Hall I (Building 25) at the University of Alicante Campus.
The exam will be conducted in 28 locations, at least one per autonomous community, and in 677 exam tables, with two additional ones located at the Ministry of Health. Over 2,000 people will collaborate in the process, serving as centre delegates, examiners, and board members at the exam tables or as part of the seven grading committees.
