Over 800 Schoolchildren in Alicante Educated on Healthy Habits by Vithas Aula Salud

Vithas has educated over 800 children and teenagers in Alicante on self-care in health, healthy lifestyle habits, and first aid as part of the educational program Vithas Aula Salud Schools, since the group launched this initiative earlier this year.

In less than six months, around 75 doctors, nurses, and other Vithas professionals have delivered 87 talks and workshops in 45 schools and institutes, demonstrating the success of a program that has been well-received by the educational community. In fact, some of these workshops have been directed at teachers and their PTAs at the request of the schools themselves.

In the first half of the year, Vithas Alicante and Vithas Medimar Hospitals have conducted a total of 23 Health Classrooms, where more than 800 children from various schools in the city have received training in healthy lifestyle habits.

First aid techniques and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), body and sexual development, mental and emotional health, and healthy eating and obesity have been the most discussed topics in these sessions, tailored to the audience profile of each. However, educational center managers can propose what type of theme they want to address.

This training is delivered by doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals from Vithas and is aimed at all educational levels, from early childhood education to high school and vocational training, including primary and secondary education.

According to the general director of Vithas, Dr. Pedro Rico, "the goal of Vithas Aula Salud Schools is to collaborate with the educational community in the healthy development of children and teenagers so that they become healthy adults tomorrow. The fact that thousands have already participated in our program in just a few months demonstrates the excellent reception from the centers and the commitment of our professionals, for which I am grateful."

With the arrival of the summer season, Vithas Aula Salud Schools, like its audience, takes a break, but will return with renewed energy next September when schools reopen.

The process is very simple: they just need to fill out a form directed to the nearest Vithas hospital in their locality.

From that moment, Vithas staff contacts the person who sent the form to coordinate the topic, date, and location of the session, and Vithas professionals begin to prepare a workshop designed to be interactive, enjoyable, and adapted to the different ages and needs of the students.
