Over 500 Candidates Compete for 20 Local Police Positions

More than 500 candidates are vying for the 20 Local Police positions that the Elda Town Hall has announced to complete its workforce. This Tuesday, the provisional list of admitted candidates was published for a call that, on one hand, "reflects the local government's commitment to public safety and the improvement of public services" and, on the other, "demonstrates the enormous interest in joining the Elda Local Police."

Of these positions, 12 are for free competition and 8 for mobility. Access to these will be carried out through two different procedures: for the free competition positions, the selection process will be conducted through an open competition, ensuring a transparent system based on the merit and ability of the candidates.

On the other hand, access to the mobility positions will be conducted through a contest, aimed at local police officers from other municipalities who meet the established requirements to apply for these positions and wish to join the Elda workforce.

The Councillor for Human Resources, Jesús Sellés, recalled that "this call, which will allow the filling of positions that have become vacant in recent months due to retirement or transfer, confirms our firm commitment to ensuring safety in Elda by prioritising the presence of police officers on the streets over alternatives such as surveillance cameras and other devices."

"With this measure," continued the councillor, "we aim to increase the sense of security in the city, but also to strengthen the closeness between the officers and the citizens. Security is a priority for the local government, and having well-trained professional officers is the best way to ensure that this security is effective and real."

This call will allow for a renewal and rejuvenation of the Elda Local Police force and also includes measures on equality to ensure the incorporation of women. In this way, the local government continues to commit to providing the Local Police with the necessary human and material resources to serve the citizens. In this regard, it should be noted that, in addition to incorporating officers, the patrol car fleet has been renewed and expanded in the last two years, and drones, security equipment, etc., have been incorporated.

Meanwhile, the Councillor for Citizen Security, Silvia Ibáñez, highlighted the work carried out by the Elda Local Police "who respond to any situation of concern or neighbourhood unease, establishing specific devices in coordination with the National Police, which has jurisdiction over public safety. I want to remind you that our workforce includes officers, such as the Tutor Officer or the Viogen Officer, who specifically handle such important issues as gender violence or school bullying."
