A power outage has been affecting nearly 350 customers in Benidorm since noon this Thursday. According to municipal sources, no significant incidents have occurred, except for some rescues of people trapped in elevators of buildings without their own generators.
According to sources from Iberdrola speaking to TodoAlicante, the supply cut occurred after a "fault in a transformation centre" was detected around noon, impacting approximately 350 subscribers.
Initially, a quicker solution to the fault was expected. However, the same sources explained that when the company's workers arrived to fix it, they "found that the transformation centre needed to be replaced."
Therefore, the decision was made to "install a generator to provide provisional supply," a measure that will remain until the affected machine can be permanently replaced.
Iberdrola emphasises that they are working with the expectation of connecting this provisional generator "by 5 PM." Similarly, they have indicated that once the new transformation centre can be installed, there will be another "brief supply cut" to safely disconnect the provisional generator and connect the new machine for the workers' safety.
