The Department of Environment of the Orihuela City Council has announced the tender for a contract aimed at the collection, transportation, and management of construction and demolition waste (CDW) from various illegal dumping sites within the municipality. Uncontrolled dumping sites have been causing significant issues after multiplying recently, posing a threat to both the natural environment and public health and safety, warns the City Council.
The Councilor for Environment, Noelia Grao, has expressed the City Council's commitment to addressing this problem and improving environmental conditions. "This contract is an essential measure to curb the proliferation of illegal dumping sites that are severely damaging our environment. From the department, we aim not only to clean these areas but also to prevent future dumping and promote greater responsibility among our citizens," she stated.
The contract, which has a one-year duration without the possibility of extension, is budgeted at 71,923.01 euros. The councilor emphasized that "we cannot allow Orihuela to be besieged by these dumping sites that endanger both the environment and public health," ensuring that this measure is part of "a broader context of environmental protection and public health."
In conclusion, Noelia Grao stressed that "we need everyone's cooperation to keep our municipality in the best possible condition. It's not just about removing debris but preventing it from being dumped again. We encourage all residents of Orihuela to report illegal dumping and use appropriate channels to dispose of waste responsibly."
