Hércules remains inactive in the January transfer market as days dangerously slip by. The initial desire to strengthen the forward line has slightly shifted, with the priority now being the search for a left-back, preferably under 23, to provide a real alternative for Retu. Technical secretary Paco Peña continues to scour the market for attackers, but not with the same urgency as weeks ago, thanks to Dani Romera's emergence. Romera has scored in the last three matches, establishing himself as a key player for Primera RFEF, provided he stays fit.

In terms of departures, striker Marcos Mendes remains the most sought-after. Orihuela is one of the latest clubs to express interest, but they must join the queue, as many Segunda RFEF teams aiming for promotion are eager to sign Mendes before the month's end. The Guinea-Bissau forward has averaged 13 goals over the past two seasons, achieving consecutive promotions with Tarazona and Hércules. However, the step up in category has taken its toll, leaving him without minutes, and the club seeks a different type of forward to challenge Romera and Coscia for playing time. One of the favourites is Canary Islander Alan Godoy from Eldense, who is also on the radar of Real Murcia, Ceuta, and Castilla, among others.

Coach Rubén Torrecilla publicly acknowledged that Hércules is seeking players for all positions (except goalkeeper), but only reinforcements that clearly improve the current level will be brought in, as maintaining team cohesion is another objective. The Extremaduran coach would welcome the arrival of a left-back and a centre-back with experience in the category, without ruling out a defensive midfielder to provide a real alternative to Mario García. However, as days pass, it becomes increasingly unlikely that more than one or two moves will occur.

Meanwhile, Marcos Mendes continues to work as usual, awaiting resolution of his situation. The player himself must also decide internally whether he wants to remain in the squad, knowing that playing time is scarce, or take advantage of his reputation to secure a good contract in Segunda RFEF.

On another note, over 3,000 Hércules fans will travel to Murcia this Saturday for the exciting derby against the pimentonero team, which kicks off at 20:00. Torrecilla's team aims to assert their authority away from home following the convincing 5-1 victory against Betis B, a result that returned the blanquiazules to the promotion spots.
