The 16 participants competing this year at the Benidorm Fest to represent Spain at Eurovision, which will be held in Basel, Switzerland, are already in the tourist capital of Alicante province. This Tuesday and Wednesday, the semi-finals will take place at the Palau d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm. From the 16, eight artists will advance to the final gala on Saturday, February 1, where the Spanish representative will be chosen.

The 16 artists and groups have expressed their happiness and excitement about participating in the Benidorm Fest, which reaches its fourth edition in 2025. They have also emphasized their eagerness to give their all on stage and showcase their proposals, despite the pre-show nerves and feeling "fortunate" for such a "great responsibility."

The order of performances was announced this Monday at a press conference at the Benidorm castle viewpoint. Artists Kuve and Mel Ömana will open the two semi-finals of the Benidorm Fest 2025, while Daniela Blasco and Melody will close these two shows.

Changes in the voting system

The co-director of the Benidorm Fest, Ana María Boadas, highlighted that this year "there has been a leap in quality and stage performances," and expressed her pride in the 'show' that will be offered this Tuesday night, Thursday, and Saturday in the final. Regarding the voting system for this year, Boadas explained that no points will be given "to avoid disadvantaging" any candidacy, but it is designed to "create tension." "We will do it in a quite visual way, it will be clear and look good," she pointed out.

The first to take the stage will be Kuve, with her song 'Loca por ti'. David Afonso with 'Amor barato', Chica Sobresalto with 'Mala feminista', K!ngdom with 'Me gustas tú', Lucas Bun with 'Te escribo en el cielo', Sonia y Selena with 'Reinas', La Chispa with 'Hartita de llorar' and Daniela Blasco with 'Uh nana' will follow.

Meanwhile, the second semi-final will be opened by Mel Ömana with 'I'm a queen', followed by Deteresa with 'La pena', J Kbello with 'VIP', Carla Frigo with 'Bésame', Mawot with 'Raggio di sole', Celine Van Heel with 'La casa' and Melody with 'Esa diva'.

The director of Spanish Television (TVE), Sergio Calderón, stated that the Benidorm Fest is a brand that rivals other pre-selections held by countries with "strong traditions" like Sweden. Calderón expressed his pride in the evolution of the format in the year the public broadcaster celebrates its 69th anniversary: "It has always been and will be the home of music, which is why it embodies the values that restore the splendour of these individuals in their respective careers and allows them to take the first steps in their journey towards the industry."
