The Alicante Nursing College has celebrated the second edition of the Nursing Gala of the Province of Alicante under the motto 'Committed to the development and future of our profession', where they have demanded professional reclassification within the public administration in Group A to be able to manage health centers.
The event, in addition to awarding prizes to outstanding individuals and groups, has served to highlight the profession. Thus, the secretary of CECOVA, José Antonio Ávila, referred to "the attacks received from other professions due to nurse prescribing", as well as salaries far below the responsibility and effectiveness of the work.
Faced with these problems, he announced the intention and will of the Collegiate Organization to continue defending the profession, as "nursing is called to lead modern healthcare more than ever, which requires a comprehensive approach, where the physical, emotional, and social well-being of the patient is attended to." Nurses are the agents of change in implementing more humanized care models, where the person is at the center of all decisions.
The president of the Alicante Nursing College introduced both recognitions by praising the figure of both and explaining the reasons for their award. Regarding the appointment of Honorary Member, which corresponded to the Federació de les Fogueres de Sant Joan.
The appointment was received by the president of the Federació de les Fogueres de Sant Joan, David Olivares, and by the Bellesa del Foc, Alba Muñoz. The president expressed his commitment to the development and future of the nursing profession: "You bring life, and as you bring life, we must be with you to support you in whatever you need." He also expressed his willingness to maintain the collaboration of both institutions.

After that, it was the turn of the appointment of Honorary Member, a distinction that fell to Amparo Cuenca Navarro, who encouraged nurses to continue with the same enthusiasm as at the beginning in their retirement: "I will be a nurse until I die," she declared to express the "personal and professional satisfaction" of becoming a volunteer for the Red Cross.
The closing of the event was marked by the speeches of the members of the presidential table, among whom was the president of the General Nursing Council (CGE), Florentino Pérez Raya: "It is essential that all levels bet on a horizon where nurses play a key role in caring for an aging population suffering from chronic diseases. And not only from direct assistance, but from positions of responsibility where the fate of the healthcare system is decided."
