Two months and 14 days after Carlos Mazón announced her dismissal as the Councillor for Innovation, Industry, Trade, and Tourism of the Valencian Government, Nuria Montes has returned today as an employee of the hotel association Hosbec. She left after the last regional elections to join the Consell when she held the position of Secretary General, and she returns to a position that, for now, has not been specified.

Since then, Montes was on leave from her position at Hosbec, and there were rumours of her imminent return. However, both the president of the hotel association, Fede Fuster, and other members of the organisation always insisted that it would be the former councillor who would decide the timing of her return.

The last time the possibility of Nuria Montes returning to Hosbec, where she served as Secretary General until her departure, was strongly suggested was last December. At that time, in statements to TODOALICANTE, Fuster himself denied this by stating, "She is on leave and has requested to extend it indefinitely for now."

On December 23, 2024, the president of Hosbec explained that Montes "is going abroad for training. The future will tell. For now, I can only say she is on leave because we don't know more."

Her position will be known this week

Now, the situation has taken a 180-degree turn, and Montes returns to Hosbec, although the hotel association's statement did not specify what position she will hold.

The hotel association explained, through a statement, that "Nuria Montes rejoins the leadership of Hosbec, and next Friday, the Board of Directors will approve the reorganisation of the organisational structure of this Association."

Thus, as added by the organisation, "from today, Monday, February 3, 2025, Nuria Montes has rejoined the leadership team of Hosbec, an organisation where she was on leave due to a public office. At this moment, this business organisation is finalising the details of the new organisational chart of the team that will coordinate the entire executive and administrative direction of this association, which will be approved at the Board of Directors meeting scheduled for the end of this week."

With her return to Hosbec, one of the most influential organisations in the Valencian Community's sector, the hotel association regains a key figure in its recent history. From her position as Secretary General and under the presidency of Toni Mayor, she was one of the architects of the growth of an organisation she joined when it operated locally and regionally in Benidorm and the Marina Baixa, and from which she left, having transformed it into the second-largest hotel association in Spain by the number of associated beds.

Therefore, it is not surprising that Fede Fuster, the current president of Hosbec, described her in statements to TODOALICANTE as "one of the country's top experts" in the tourism sector. A sector in which Fuster also praised Montes's management as a member of the Consell, describing it as "excellent."

"From a tourism perspective, there is nothing to fault. She has tackled all the challenges head-on, especially the issue of tourist housing, which is very complex. She has managed to bring together all the tourism subsectors to create a consensus regulation, something that seemed quite difficult until recently," Fuster explained in December.

Furthermore, regarding her dismissal by Mazón, Fuster emphasised that "it had nothing to do with her professional management from the perspective of the councillorship. I believe, in that sense, she leaves through the front door."
