El Criterium de La Nucía is emerging as one of the major events in the cycling calendar at the end of the season. Additionally, new cyclists have been announced to join those already confirmed Mathieu Van der Poel, Pablo Castrillo, Alejandro Valverde, and Óscar Sevilla, along with legends Claudio Chiappucci, Gianni Bugno, and Samuel Sánchez.

Mathieu Van der Poel will be accompanied by his teammate Gianni Vermeersch. The Belgian, world gravel champion in 2022, is eager not to miss the return of the Criterium in the Alicante town. The other confirmed international cyclist is the 22-year-old Uruguayan Thomas Silva from the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team. He was the national champion in 2022 and aims to stand out in this competition.

Regarding the Kern Pharma team, alongside the new Movistar Team signing, Pablo Castrillo, will be Eugenio Sánchez and Urko Berrade. Berrade was part of the revelation team of La Vuelta 2024 and achieved a stage victory, while Sánchez, racing in his home province, has participated mainly in national and French classic races this season.

The Movistar Team will also have two representatives: Jorge Arcas and Sergio Samitier. Arcas has been a key domestique in grand tours, while Samitier, a new signing for Team Cofidis for the next season, stood out by finishing third in the mountain classification in La Vuelta 2019. INEOS and Cofidis complete the list of UCI World Tour teams and will be represented by Óscar Rodríguez and Rubén Fernández, respectively.

From the Pro Team, Euskaltel-Euskadi, one of the most active teams in the breakaways of La Vuelta 2024, will bring three riders, including the Valencian Joan Bou. Luis Ángel Maté will participate in the year of his retirement, after a standout performance in La Vuelta, and Andoni López de Abechuco will complete the trio of cyclists.

In contrast, Burgos BH will be present with Jesús Ezquerra, Óscar Pelegrí, and José Manuel Díaz Gallego. The Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, in addition to Thomas Silva, will line up the young Alicante native Jaume Guardeño and Joseba López. The list of participants is completed by Jaime Castrillo from Sabgal and Óscar Cabedo from ABTF Feirense, two experienced cyclists in the professional circuit, who will seek to shine in La Nucía.

The event, to be held on a closed circuit in the Camilo Cano Sports City, will offer a course designed to bring out the best in cyclists, through four exciting modalities (legends duel, long-distance race, "The Duel" race, and elimination race). La Nucía has established itself as a reference in the sports calendar, and with the return of the Criterium, thousands of fans are expected to arrive to offer an unforgettable experience for both cyclists and the public.

Moreover, to conclude this great cycling festival, there will be a showdown between Spanish legends Samuel Sánchez and Alejandro Valverde against the Italian duo of Gianni Bugno and Claudio Chiappucci. Nonetheless, on October 26th, there will be a spectacular end of the party by La Pato, an orchestra that has toured much of the Valencian Community over the past 30 years, becoming one of the leading music brands in the area.
