La Nucía awarded gold medal by the Spanish Sports Association

La Nucía, dedicated for over two decades to developing one of the best sports cities in the country, has long been reaping the rewards of its efforts and investments. This is not only through hosting major national and international sporting events but also through receiving various awards and recognitions.

The latest accolade for the Ciutat Esportiva Camilo Cano, and consequently the entire municipality, comes from the Spanish Sports Association (Adesp), which has awarded the town its gold medal for promoting federated sports in Spain.

At the same ceremony, where Mayor Bernabé Cano received the award, former athletes such as Pau Gasol, Ona Carbonell, and Sandra Sánchez were also honoured.

Cano, accompanied by the sports councillor Sergio Villalba, received the award from José Hidalgo, president of Adesp, and Carmelo Paniagua, vice president of the association, in an event presided over by José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, president of the Spanish Government's Higher Sports Council.

The Spanish Sports Association is an entity that encompasses all sports federations in Spain, aiming to highlight federated sports as an essential agent in Spain's sports development.

This gold medal from Adesp, explained Bernabé Cano, "is a new accolade for the 'La Nucía, City of Sport' project for its strong commitment to sports at all levels," establishing itself as a national and international benchmark.

In the same vein, it is worth remembering that the European Parliament awarded La Nucía the title of 'European City of Sport 2013', a distinction repeated eleven years later due to the significant growth of its sports infrastructure.

Additionally, La Nucía was honoured with the National Sports Award in 2013 by the Spanish Government's Higher Sports Council. It has also been recognised by various federations, associations, and media outlets in recent years for being a sports reference.
