Summer nights in Benidorm are once again filled with life, colour, and creativity with the return of Les Nits del Castell, a traditional event in the city's summer calendar. The official opening took place yesterday evening at Plaça de la Senyoría, where Mayor Toni Pérez and Commerce Councillor Javier Jordá, accompanied by other members of the municipal corporation, visited the stalls to kick off this initiative promoted by the Department of Commerce and the Merchants' Association.
The 2025 edition of Les Nits del Castell will be held every night until September 30, from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM, spread across Castelar and Senyoría squares. The aim of the proposal, in the words of the mayor himself, is "to promote commercial and cultural activity during the summer nights, invigorating the area and promoting artisanal talent."
In total, thirteen accredited professional artisans are participating this year, offering the public their unique creations, ranging from sterling silver jewellery with precious stones to cold porcelain, costume jewellery, natural soaps, or handmade beads. Additionally, a dozen visual artists, including portraitists, caricaturists, and silhouette artists, work live in Castelar square, adding an artistic component highly valued by visitors.
One of the main attractions of Les Nits del Castell is the free craft workshops held from Monday to Thursday starting at 8:00 PM in Plaça de la Senyoría. Conducted by the participating artisans themselves, these workshops allow locals and tourists to get up close to traditional techniques and develop their creativity in a relaxed and family-friendly environment.
Inclusion also has a prominent place in the programme thanks to the participation of the Benidorm and Region Association of People with Disabilities (Asmibe), which has its own stall where products made by its members, such as decorated fans or handcrafted bindings, can be purchased. Asmibe's presence reflects the City Council's commitment to the integration and visibility of the group.
From the town hall, both the mayor and the Commerce Councillor encouraged locals and tourists to visit this night market, which, year after year, contributes to enriching the tourist, cultural, and commercial offerings of Benidorm's historic centre during the summer months. A proposal that, in addition to supporting local commerce, turns the old town's nights into a meeting point for family leisure and the promotion of artisanal talent.
