As the festive calendar progresses towards the main days of June, the ninot exhibition will open its doors on Friday, May 23, with significant innovations in this new edition.
This will be the first event, after the proclamation, where the belleas del foc, Adriana Vico and Valentina Tárraga, and their dames d'honor will showcase their official attire and newly donned sashes. They will do so in full view of Alicante's residents and visitors.
The Federació de les Fogueres de Sant Joan has introduced a major innovation in the inauguration of the ninot exhibition, which will take to the streets to "bring it closer to the public," announced the Fogueres delegate, Quique Castelló.
In this regard, the area manager reveals that on the afternoon of Friday, May 23, a platform will be placed on the road of Almirante Julio Guillén Tato Avenue, in front of the Lonja del Pescado exhibition hall.
It will be at this new location where the belleas del foc, along with the Mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, and the president of the Federació, David Olivares, will offer a few words to inaugurate the ninot exhibition. Afterwards, they will proceed to the building's exterior entrance to perform the traditional ribbon cutting.
Thus, the traditional gesture can be witnessed by all present, moving away from a reduced act at the first access to the ninot exhibition. With this, the Federació aims to involve all Alicante residents while supporting the commissions in this advancement of the Hogueras.
Additionally, gunpowder remains after the inauguration of this exhibition, albeit with another novelty. While last year a pyromusical was fired after the ribbon cutting, this May 23, the Federació will launch a nocturnal mascletà in the vicinity of the Lonja.
The pyrotechnics company Turis will repeat the display after this event, having dazzled with its exclusive colours during the candidate galas at the Rico Pérez. Additionally, they will place the mascletà at a key point, at the Perfecto Palacio de la Fuente roundabout.
The price of the tickets for the ninot exhibition remains at 1.5 euros. Each ticket will include three sections for visitors to vote for the adult ninot indultat, the children's, and the best barraca ninot, as happened last year.
The ninot exhibition of the Hogueras de Alicante will open from May 24 to June 15 during its usual exhibition hours. Voting will conclude at 5 p.m. on that day, when the counting will begin.
On Sunday, June 15, the Hogueras de Alicante will announce the adult and children's ninots indultats for 2025. Alicante residents will vote among the 91 proposals from these two sections, two more than in previous years due to the debut of the Remigio Soler and Pío XII commissions.
Additionally, another novelty will be the expansion of categories, with 2025 featuring two subcategories A and B in the third and fifth, as well as the seventh in adults. The ninots, as usual, will be distributed from the highest (Special) to the lowest category through the Lonja del Pescado.
All of them, both adults and children, will compete for the indult. Also for other awards. In the case of adults, the best satirical ninot and the best ninot of its category; and in children for the best ninot for children's rights and the best of its category.
Adult ninot indultat by popular vote
Children's ninot indultat by popular vote
Best ninot of each category by jury: in adults from Special to seventh; in children from Special to sixth
Best adult satirical ninot by jury
Best ninot for children's rights by jury
Best barraca ninot by popular vote
Best barraca ninot by jury
The barracas also participate in the ninot exhibition and compete for two awards: best barraca ninot awarded by the popular jury through the entry ballot, and another awarded -for the first time- by a jury appointed by the Federación de Barracas de Alicante.
The award ceremony for the ninot exhibition will remain in the format of last year. A platform will be placed at the exterior entrance of the Lonja del Pescado, where the banners will be presented. The winning hogueras and barracas commissions will ascend to collect the banners.
Castelló highlights the "great acceptance" that this format maintained during 2024, encouraging its repetition with the intention of involving all present and supporting the awarded ninots.
Additionally, a major novelty for this edition of the ninot exhibition's closure will be the children's model competition, which will also be displayed in the Lonja. The winning proposals will be announced at this same event, and the Gran Vía shopping centre representatives will present the awards to the youngest foguerers and barraquers.
With this, it is intended that the children can enjoy this event as direct participants and also "receive the applause of the foguerers and barraquers."
The hogueras and barracas commissions already have a date to deliver their ninots. The reception period will open on Tuesday, May 20, at 4 p.m., when the first ninots will arrive at the Lonja del Pescado until 8:45 p.m. The next day, May 21, the period will extend from 12 to 8:45 p.m. In the case of collection, after the closure and award ceremony, it is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, starting at 5 p.m.
