José María del Nido Carrasco, president of Sevilla, has strongly criticised Real Madrid ahead of the match against Barcelona, in statements to DAZN. The Sevilla leader condemned the statement issued by the white club following the refereeing controversy in Cornellà, labelling it as 'intolerable and unacceptable', asserting that 'it calls into question the honour of the referees and the competition'. Furthermore, he accused Madrid of attempting to 'destroy Spanish football for some time through Real Madrid TV and other practices', urging public and legal denunciation of their behaviour.
The leader also expressed surprise at Barcelona's silence on this controversy, insinuating that 'if they haven't said anything, it's because they agree with Real Madrid'. Additionally, he called on the blue club to take a leadership role instead of 'picking up the crumbs left by Madrid'. These statements come amid a context of growing discontent in LaLiga, where several clubs, led by Sevilla and Atlético, expressed their rejection of Madrid's behaviour in a recent summit with the FEF and the CTA.
On another note, the Sevilla president reiterated his stance on the 'Negreira case' and the relationship with Barcelona, making it clear that he will not sit in the blue stadium's box 'until they provide an explanation'. He also addressed the transfer market, defending the club's planning and closing the door on Juanlu's departure despite Galatasaray's interest. 'We have had a good market, maintained the core, and are happy with the squad,' he assured.
