Nelly Jorge Gosálbez: "Les Fogueres are moments of happiness and joy in the streets"

Nelly Jorge Gosálbez is certain that "les Fogueres are moments of happiness and joy in the streets." This is how she views the main days of June for the past 12 years, since she became part of the official festival census of Alicante.

This Alicante native has held various positions such as child bellea in the Nou Alacant foguera, and adult lady of honour, 'muse', and bellea in the Florida-Plaza de la Viña district, which she represented during 2024. There, she also participated in management as deputy delegate for children and delegate for belleas.

This past weekend, she fully embraced the gatherings, as this candidate for bellea del foc heads towards the major events of the calendar, such as the catwalk and the election.

Her favourite events in the festive calendar are the plantà and the flower offering to the Virgen del Remedio, two days when "Alicante dresses in light and colour", in addition to feeling the "vibrant sound of the Fiesta in every corner".

For her, the month of June "are days when the city beats with more strength, where tradition and emotion come together in a unique celebration, filling us with unforgettable memories".

Among them, she highlights an anecdote at the end of the ninot parade, when "an unstoppable downpour" fell. This Alicante native and her foguerers took shelter under the balconies. Despite their attempt to stay dry, "we ended up soaked". From there, they went to the bus stop and watched as it passed by full of people. "With no other option, we continued walking in the rain, laughing nonstop at the situation".
