The National Police have conducted a large operation against brand counterfeiting at a market in Dénia. There, officers inspected 17 stalls, seizing 1,344 allegedly counterfeit items and arresting 17 men as alleged perpetrators of a crime against industrial and intellectual property.
The incidents were reported to the security forces following several complaints filed by representatives of various "well-known" commercial brands. According to police sources, these complaints highlighted the existence of several stalls in the Dénia market selling counterfeit items imitating these brands without authorization.
After learning of the incidents, the National Police launched a specific operation to verify and pursue this crime, intervening in the stalls and seizing the counterfeit material, with the presence of a judicial expert in brands.
Thus, coordinated action was taken in 17 stalls, finding numerous public sale products with sufficient indications of being illegal counterfeits and imitations. Officers found bags, wallets, shirts, sweatshirts, belts, trainers, underwear, and towels, among other items, imitating registered brands of recognized prestige.
After inspecting the 17 stalls, investigators counted a total of 1,344 imitation items, all of which were seized, and 17 men aged between 22 and 63 were arrested as suspected perpetrators of crimes against industrial and intellectual property. According to expert reports, the total value of the seized items would reach 346,325 euros in the market.
Following the police proceedings, all actions were forwarded to the Investigating Court on duty in the town of Dénia.
