National Police unveiled Operation Summer 2025 in Alicante province this Wednesday in Dénia. The event, held at the port promenade, saw participation from various police services and units to showcase the daily work of the officers to the public.
A novel initiative by the National Police for this summer season comes from the Citizen Participation Unit in Alicante, aimed at children. It involves a free identification bracelet with a blank space for parents to write their child's name and phone number in case they get lost. These will be distributed by specific National Police service units on beaches and will also be available at Tourist Offices and Hotels.
As part of the plan, police forces in the province have been reinforced, resulting in a greater police presence on the streets, especially during this summer period, to meet citizens' needs and ensure an effective response to everyday issues faced by residents and visitors, in initiatives like the Safe Tourism plan.
French Gendarmes
The National Police will be supported by French gendarmes who, as part of the 'European Police Stations' project, will patrol until August 15th alongside service units in Alicante and Benidorm, aiming to enhance tourist assistance and ensure greater security for foreign citizens.
Participating officers explained their daily duties to the Government Subdelegate and visitors, while distributing leaflets and offering safety advice to citizens to make prevention a collective effort.
The exhibition featured specialist officers from TEDAX (Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technicians), Canine Guides, Cavalry Unit, Air Media Unit - Drones and Air Security, Citizen Participation, UPR (Prevention and Reaction Unit), and Forensic Police with all their operational equipment and vehicles.
The event was attended by the Government Subdelegate in Alicante, Juan Antonio Nieves Martínez; the Chief of the National Police in the Valencian Community, Carlos Gajero Grande; the Provincial Chief Commissioner of the National Police in Alicante, Manuel Lafuente Lázaro, and other police authorities.
