National Police have put an end to the nocturnal activities of two thieves who burgled eleven shops in central Elche over two weeks, according to police sources. The arrested individuals, two Spanish men aged 39 and 45, had numerous prior offenses for various crimes. In fact, one of them had an outstanding warrant from a court in Murcia. Both have been brought before the city's Magistrate's Court, which has ordered their immediate imprisonment.

Investigators estimate that the alleged perpetrators managed to secure a haul of over 10,000 euros in cash, as well as various mobile terminals. During the investigation, several cash registers were recovered, directly linking the detainees to the thefts, according to the Police Force.

The pursuit began when the National Police's robbery unit detected unusual activity of these crimes during the first fortnight of this year. The owners of the affected shops reported to the police, noting that when they started their workday, they found their shops tampered with, particularly the cash register.

The method of entry into the premises was quite particular, according to investigators. The arrested individuals targeted shops that did not have shutters anchored to the ground and only used the electric motor lock for anchoring. Once the targets were selected, the perpetrators used manual force to lift the shutters of the establishments and then forced the second entrance door to access the premises.

The various actions carried out by the National Police determined that these were two thieves with "little specialization" in robbery. However, they displayed a small division of tasks, with one of them keeping watch outside the premises while the other committed the act as the material author.

During the investigation, the police were able to determine the names of the alleged perpetrators, discovering that one of the identified individuals had an active judicial requisition from a court in the town of Murcia. Investigators set up a surveillance operation near the residence until they located and proceeded to arrest them.
