National Police officers have arrested a 27-year-old Spanish man in Elche, suspected of drug trafficking. The detainee allegedly sold narcotics, specifically hashish, to minors at a school during school hours, according to police sources.
The investigation began thanks to an alert from the school's teaching staff, which led to the intervention of the Citizen Participation Unit of the Elche Police Station. This unit is tasked with receiving and channelling information from various groups, establishing direct and fluid communication channels, and working to improve coexistence in schools and their surroundings through the Director Plan.
The information indicated that a man, unaffiliated with the school, took advantage of recess when students were in the playground to approach them and provide narcotics.
Officers set up a surveillance operation near the school and confirmed that the now-detained individual arrived in a vehicle, approached the school's fence, and handed something to three minors. At that moment, the police intervened and confiscated what turned out to be hashish, according to the same sources.
The officers identified the minors who had acquired the drugs and arrested the alleged trafficker. The proceedings have been forwarded to the Elche duty court.
