'Mutxamel en Danza' will transform the streets and cultural spaces of the town into a grand living choreography. Renowned companies and local academies will participate from May 9 to 17 in the 13th edition of a festival that is a reference in the province for this specialty.

The festival kicks off on Friday, May 9 at 8:30 PM with the piece 'Célula' by the Subcielo company, in the unique setting of the Bell Tower of the Church of El Salvador. It is an aerial acro-dance performance that transforms the space and defies gravity with a choreography about love, separation, and transformation. Two bodies emerge from a common cell to reunite with new skins and ways of loving, in a tango work that combines physical risk, visual poetry, and emotional symbolism. The performance will be accompanied by live music from the local cellist Verónica Rubio.

On Saturday, May 10, the festival moves to the urban environment with a morning session at Plaça del Mercat. From 12 PM, various local companies will perform: Ballet Gisela Comins, Ballet Verónica Perelló, Academia José Soriano, and Naracé, showcasing the artistic potential of local schools and their connection with the community.

In the evening, at 8 PM at the Auditorium of the Casa de Cultura, 'Alegoría 2.0', the new work by the José Soriano company, will be presented. This show offers a contemporary look at Spanish dance, claiming the body as a bearer of cultural legacy through a staging that dialogues with new trends. The show retains the essence of folklore and intangible heritage but opens up to the natural evolution of art and its adaptability. An artistic experience that celebrates roots and identity through a vibrant and current choreographic language. Tickets for this show cost 12 euros and can be purchased at www.dentralia.com.

The final touch will be on Saturday, May 17 at 8 PM, also at the Auditorium of the Casa de Cultura, with the A3 Danza Company presenting 'Renaissance', a work that delves into the hero's inner journey, who, after falling into darkness, finds in his childhood the purest values to be reborn. Fusing neoclassical, Spanish, and contemporary dance, Renaissance constructs a narrative about fears, hope, and the longing for happiness.

The Councillor for Culture, Maria Loreto Riera, highlighted the importance of such cultural proposals as "essential tools to bring art and creativity to all citizens, create meeting spaces, and promote local and professional talent. Dance has a unique ability to connect with emotions, tell stories, and provoke reflection. With 'Mutxamel en Danza', we continue to consolidate a project that grows every year, not only in programming but also in citizen involvement and artistic quality." She also emphasized that "the combination of innovative shows and the participation of our local academies is a testament to the commitment that the Town Hall has with culture as a driver of identity, development, and social cohesion."

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Mutxamel, Rafael García Berenguer, emphasized that "initiatives like Mutxamel en Danza reflect the municipality's strong commitment to quality, accessible, and vibrant culture as a key element in social development and in projecting the municipality as a cultural reference in the province. This festival not only enriches our cultural agenda but also turns our public and cultural spaces into open stages for talent, art, and citizen participation. It is a demonstration of how culture can transform, move, and unite an entire community," stated the mayor. García Berenguer also wanted to highlight the symbolic value of this edition, "we are committed to a diverse, contemporary program rooted in our traditions, which very well represents the plural and dynamic identity of Mutxamel and also offers citizens the opportunity to enjoy the splendor of dance in unique and heritage-referencing spaces such as the Defense Tower of our Church."
