Mutxamel will once again be present at the International Tourism Fair, Fitur 2025, which will take place from the 22nd to the 26th of this month. This year, the Mutxamel Town Hall has decided to showcase a series of promotional videos at the Tourism Costablanca stand and in Plaza Callao, taking advantage of the presence of companies, visitors, and onlookers, as well as the large number of passersby in the Sol neighbourhood.
In this edition, Mutxamel seeks to highlight its cultural, tourist, and gastronomic offerings, with a strong emphasis on its festivals and heritage. Additionally, they aim to showcase the increase in visitor numbers over the past year, partly due to the new location of their tourist office in the heart of the old town, which welcomed over 2,600 people in 2024. According to the Tourism Councillor, Felicia Aracil, "this new street-level location helps and invites visitors and many locals to take an interest in all the cultural and tourist offerings we have in the municipality."
The cornerstone of Mutxamel's success lies in its tourist and cultural offerings, based on a wide range of guided and theatrical tours with different themes at various points in the municipality, allowing visitors to learn about its history, secrets, corners, and emblematic heritage. The appeal of these tours is also due to their connection with certain events organized by different departments to create an attraction based on synergy and cross-cutting themes. Hence, one can enjoy large-scale festivals, such as Christmas in Mutxamel, while also learning about its traditions through the display of nativity scenes throughout the town.
Nevertheless, Mutxamel does not forget the importance and significance of its festivals and traditions, with the Moors and Christians celebration being the highlight, declared of Regional Tourist Interest in 2020, and its unique Three Kings Parade, declared of Provincial Tourist Interest in 2021. Its richness and popularity bring together numerous locals and visitors year after year to enjoy the uniquely characteristic festivities in the streets.
This year, new catalogs and brochures on heritage, nature, and hiking will also be present at Fitur, three updated pillars aimed at attracting tourism to the municipality and reaffirming the town hall's commitment to making Mutxamel a greener, more sustainable, natural, and attractive place for citizens and visitors. Thus, information about the Huerto Ferraz and the Santa Elena Garden, the Les Fontetes Interpretation Center, and the Camins de l'Aigua has been expanded to showcase the history of the Huerta de Alicante through these iconic spots.
Hiking routes are one of Mutxamel's main attractions thanks to its natural landscapes and, especially, the "Bec de l'Àguila" Municipal Natural Area, which has enabled the implementation of protection, planning, and management mechanisms for significant natural heritage values in the municipality, with the aim of preserving them for future generations and highlighting them as an environmental resource. "We have observed that our target audience seeks tourism that allows them to enjoy nature outdoors, to escape the crowds and hustle of the city, a destination to disconnect from daily life. For this reason, we have opted for the creation of a new hiking route located in Bonalba and have renovated the Aire Puro Children's Forest, the urban forest of Les Paulines, and Monte El Calvari," emphasized the Tourism Councillor, Felicia Aracil.
Mutxamel has set the goal of becoming a more inclusive and accessible municipality, as evidenced by the new, larger tourist office equipped with a face-to-face service counter for people with reduced mobility. Its mayor, Rafael García Berenguer, wants to show what "the municipality can become, a focus of inclusion and accessibility so that all visitors can feel welcomed in our streets, at our festivals and events. To this end, we must focus on achieving the Q for quality so that, by next year, we can secure that spot within Costa Blanca and position ourselves as an attractive space for tourism."
The Mutxamel Town Hall, supporting this approach, aims to bring its tourist, cultural, natural, sports, and gastronomic offerings to the International Tourism Fair this year, highlighting the pillars that make Mutxamel a key and historic municipality in the province of Alicante.
