Last night, a Municipal Police officer from Torrejón de Ardoz was arrested after strangling a Maghrebi man, approximately 35 years old, to death. The incident occurred after the man attempted to steal the officer's phone while he was walking in plain clothes, according to police sources.
The events unfolded around 11:15 PM on Tuesday near number 20 Pesquera Street, located in the old town of the locality. Two plainclothes Municipal Police officers were walking in the area when they were surprised by two Maghrebi individuals who attempted to steal their mobile phones.
The officers chased after one of the individuals, managing to catch and restrain him on the ground, resulting in his death by strangulation. Officers from the Scientific Police Brigade and the Homicide Group V were dispatched to the scene and have taken over the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Summa 112 emergency services sent a medical team to the location. Upon arrival, they performed resuscitation efforts on the victim for about 30 minutes, but were unable to reverse the cardiac arrest, and the individual was pronounced dead, according to medical sources.
