Motorcyclists in Catalonia are being offered the chance to enhance their riding skills for free with the launch of the 11th edition of the Formació 3.0 programme this weekend. Organised by the Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT) and ANESDOR (National Association of Two-Wheel Sector Companies), in collaboration with the Departments of Interior and Business and Labour, the initiative aims to improve riding techniques and increase safety for motorcyclists.
This year's edition will feature 40 sessions from March to December across Catalonia, primarily on open roads. The Urban/Business programme is also being expanded, with sessions on urban roads aimed at scooter users, including a dozen sessions focused on workplace road safety with specific training for companies.
Formació 3.0, supported by the Mossos d'Esquadra for both the development of the training sessions and the identification of suitable locations, has seen participation from over 6,000 motorcyclists over the past decade. Last year's edition set a record with 918 participants, 11% of whom were women. One of this year's goals is to promote gender-balanced participation.
The 2025 schedule kicks off on Saturday, 15th March, on the BV-2115 in Castellet i la Gornal. The 40 planned sessions will take place on open roads and urban areas across Catalonia's four provinces. The chosen routes are popular with motorcyclists on weekends and have a certain risk of accidents.
Motorcyclists interested in this free training activity will embark on a 20-minute ride with their motorcycles, accompanied and recorded by the training instructors. After the rides, the footage will be reviewed to discuss improvements for the motorcyclist's safety. Participants will receive the recording and a checklist of ten points on the motorcycle's technical condition. Interested motorcyclists can register online at this link.
