Mother Arrested for Leaving Young Children Alone, Including a Sick Ten-Month-Old, Without Food

The Civil Guard has arrested a 37-year-old woman of Slavic origin, suspected of committing domestic violence and child abandonment by leaving her children alone at their home in Mallorca.

The incident occurred last Sunday when, according to the Civil Guard, a patrol was dispatched to a residence in Calvià following a report of possible child abandonment.

On the balcony of the first floor of the residence, a 16-year-old girl was waiting for the patrol. The main door was locked, and she could not open it from the inside, prompting the officers to enter the ground floor patio to speak with her. She explained that she was alone and responsible for her ten-month-old brother.

She stated that they had been alone in the house since the previous morning, without food and without the necessary medication for the sick infant. She also recounted several instances of physical and psychological abuse that had been ongoing for some time.

The officers located the mother, who arrived at the residence a few hours later, and she was arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse and child abandonment.

Following an order from the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office and after confirming that the children had no relatives to care for them, the officers took the baby and the teenager to a shelter.
