The new Mustang GTD has redefined what this Ford icon represents in terms of performance. Nowhere is this more evident than under the hood, where its supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine produces an SAE-certified power output of 815 HP and 900 Nm of torque.
These figures, combined with the cutting-edge active aerodynamics of the Mustang GTD, carbon-ceramic brakes, and rear internal suspension with semi-active dampers, are key elements in preparing the Mustang GTD to fulfill its promise of completing an official lap at the Nürburgring circuit in under seven minutes.
The supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine enhances previous Mustang engines, benefiting from Mustang's first dry sump lubrication system, which helps keep the engine lubricated during the most demanding turns. This dry sump system also allows for a slightly higher maximum rev limit of 7,650 rpm, 100 rpm more than the previous 5.2-liter V8.
Enhanced intake and exhaust systems, including a standard titanium exhaust and a smaller supercharger pulley, contribute to achieving these power values.
In addition to the power needed to reach its top speed of 325 km/h, the Mustang GTD also features a drag reduction system that can change the angle of the rear wing and activate flaps under the front part of the vehicle to find exactly the right balance between airflow for speed and downforce for grip, depending on performance conditions.
