Villena once again brings together the most groundbreaking, transgressive, and unconventional artistic expressions of the moment, in any of its manifestations, in the new edition of the Front of Contemporary Initiatives (FIC) to be held from October 3 to 6.

The event is a great cocktail of new artistic expressions through different formats, such as cinema, music, video art, photography, dance or gastronomy. The Councilor for Culture, María Server, highlights that "the event seeks new contemporary languages at the frontier of the traditional," under the theme 'Behind the Skin', which "aims to evoke reflection on identity, human vulnerability and society, emotions and human expression."

Activities will take place in spaces such as Plaza de Santiago, Ermita de San Antón, Teatro Chapí or KAKV, according to the councilor. The director of FIC, José Ayelo, has declared the event "a luxury for a city like Villena," citing the number of artists from different parts of the world who will gather in the city to "show what is not known."

The curator, Ana Esteban, for her part, has highlighted the importance of music, with the presence of Eric Jiménez, former drummer of Los Planetas, or the performance of the Valencian group Yo Diablo. Within the musical programming, the work 'Cycle', by Villena composer Pedro Ángel López has been incorporated.

The FIC will begin on Thursday, October 3 with the concert 'Differences' by Connecta Quartet, the documentary 'The Importance of Being Earnest and the Stupidity of Being Eric' and the projection of videomapping 'Videodermis' on the facade of Casa de la Cultura.

The day ends with a dance and performance show 'Record, What's Happening to Us?' by Mar García and Javier Soler and a concert by Pascual Pérez.

On Saturday there will be a workshop/laboratory 'Bioplastics Inspired by Skin' about using reused and recycled materials in plastic or artistic creativity. Javier Moreno's talk 'Porous Skin' and a live demonstration of La Mina's art performing live tattooing.

This year introduces a combination of art and gastronomy with Laura Torres and Yazel Parra in 'Eating Our Skin', while Alicia Reig and Raúl Micó perform at Ermita de San Antón with their show 'Sostenidor'.
