The IX Moscatell Short Film Festival in Teulada Concludes

The IX edition of the Moscatell Short Film Festival in Teulada concluded last weekend. The short film 'El Trono' by director Lucía Jiménez won both the Audience Award and the Best Performance Award for actor Manu Baqueiro, who plays a president facing unexpected political and romantic secrets within his cabinet after running out of toilet paper in a public restroom. Combining reflection and humor, the president enters confident of his power but leaves filled with worries.

Valencian magician Jandro received the 'A Step Towards Equality' award for his short film, Cava; 'Pequeño', by Alicante natives Meka Ribera and Álvaro G. Company, won the Best Fiction Short Film Award. This short film delves into the deliberations of a couple conflicted over their differing opinions on whether they would buy a vaccine that keeps their children perpetually as babies; director Màriam Zelaia won the Best Valencian Short Film Award for '13', a work that addresses youth hypersexualization through the consumption of pornography on mobile devices.

The jury was composed of producer Paula Cervera, sociologist and audiovisual technician Dani Ibanco, and ESCAC member Ramón Mulet. The closing gala, held last Friday, August 30th, marked the end of three days of screenings, which managed to gather nearly 400 people.

The festival director expressed gratitude for the audience's support and acknowledged the efforts of the two organizing entities, the Town Hall and l'ACAT. The mayor of Teulada Moraira, Raúl Llobell, concluded by emphasizing that "we are witnessing an already established activity, unique and very important for our town and our region."
