A pesar de que los domingos suelen ser el día de la semana que menos desplazamientos se registran de forma habitual, the Alicante Tram has recorded a significant number of passengers during this last day.

It was last Sunday when more than 41,000 passengers rode for free on the convoys that travel through the city and province, as part of the conclusion of activities promoted by the Ministry of Environment, Infrastructure, and Territory for European Car-Free Day.

The conseller Vicente Martínez Mus highlighted, after the assessment, that "the day went smoothly and allowed thousands of people from all over the Comunitat to experience firsthand and at no cost the advantages of using public transport."

In addition to the Alicante Tram passengers, hundreds more from the rest of the Comunitat traveled for free this Sunday on regional public transport services. In total, more than 235,000 people across Alicante convoys, Metro Valencia, Metrobús, and Tram de Castelló.

Car-Free Day concluded the Mobility Week events held from September 16 to 22. This year, the Generalitat promoted it with the campaign 'Ride', inviting citizens to use public transport to encourage and promote more accessible, universal, and healthy mobility throughout the year, not just this week.
