Elche City Council, through the Department of Public Services, continues to upgrade and improve lighting throughout the municipality. This initiative will focus on the entire Vinalopó riverbank, specifically in its urban area.
This announcement was made by the area councillor, Claudio Guilabert, who noted that all the riverbank's streetlights, 188 in total, will be upgraded from sodium vapor to LED systems. "This will provide a greater sense of security for those who frequent this area at night, as there will be significantly more light," he stated.
The project involves replacing the caps of most streetlights with LED systems. In some cases, where the streetlights are made of cement, the poles will be replaced with cast iron ones. The work represents an investment of 172,000 euros and is expected to be completed within a month.
Guilabert highlighted that "this transition from sodium vapor to LED is highly beneficial in terms of efficiency, as it will result in up to a 40% reduction in electricity bills."
