Horneo EÓN Alicante strengthens its goalkeeping position with the addition of Alicante native Roberto Domenech, arriving from Servigroup Hoteles Benidorm. Despite his young age, 22 years (186cm), he already has experience in ASOBAL. Last season with the Benidorm team, he played 28 matches and made 135 saves. Although his debut in the top tier of Spanish handball came in the 2022/2023 season with the Barça badge. Domenech was trained in the youth ranks of the Catalan club until reaching the first team. Additionally, Domenech played for HC Eivissa in the 23/24 season.
His talent led him to the Spanish National Team, with whom he became European Junior Champion in 2022 and secured third place in the European Youth Championship in 2021.
His career and youth are precisely what sports director Abraham Rochel highlights about him: "Despite his age, he already has experience and knows the category. He left Alicante very young, and it was time for him to return home, to do so with us, and to play in ASOBAL at home. Therefore, we are very pleased that he is part of our project for many years to come."
Roberto acknowledges having "a lot of excitement to be part of a project that has been in the making for many years." "I am eager to start and work because being at home is always an extra advantage," he assures.
On the other hand, Horneo EÓN Alicante looks to the future but with a foundation in the present that blends experience and youth with quality to ensure the continuity of a solid project where tomorrow's players have a significant role and Alicante DNA. Jorge Laredo, who joins the club for the next two seasons, embodies all these characteristics.
Laredo (24 years old) plays as a right-winger and arrives from Fundación Agustinos Alicante, with whom he played 21 matches last season and scored 48 goals. Successfully operated on his left knee two months ago, he is recovering very well, and knowing his quality and potential, the club wanted to support him in this recovery and have him back on the court to continue growing together.
Fernando Latorre describes him as a "tactically intelligent player who can defend both inside and outside, with the ability to counterattack and finish." "He will surely bring us youth and that enthusiasm to debut in ASOBAL." The Alicante coach eagerly anticipates his recovery "to contribute to the team all the handball he has within."
