The Moors and Christians of Mutxamel are synonymous with festivity, spectacle, and tradition, emblematic of the locality and once again a prime tourist attraction. A representation of the "filaes" showcased their dances and music on Thursday before a hundred Dutch students and media from the Netherlands gathered at the 'Travel Challenge 2025' Costa Blanca, in Bonalba.

This reference event in the educational field of the Dutch tourism sector is organized by the Labour Fund of the Tourism Industry of the Netherlands, in collaboration with Turespaña. During their stay in Bonalba, the students and media had the opportunity to explore various locations such as Benidorm, Calpe, or Alicante, as well as to learn about the culture and traditions of the province with the special demonstration of the Moors and Christians Festivals of Mutxamel.

A group of 30 festival-goers came to perform alongside a group of musicians from the L'Aliança de Mutxamel Musical Society. At the hotel, the Tourism Councillor, Felicia Aracil, and the Mayor of Mutxamel, Rafael García, were already present, welcoming the festival-goers with applause. Among the festival-goers were also the Festivals Councillor, María Loreto Riera, and the President of the Moors and Christians Festival Commission of Mutxamel, Francisco Poveda, along with some of their commissioners and festival-goers from the different troupes.

Poveda commented that "our festivals deserve every recognition they have, and we work to make them even more attractive without losing our essence." He also expressed gratitude to the festival-goers from each of the troupes who responded to the call from the Mutxamel Town Hall and the Festival Commission to promote our festivals.

Meanwhile, the Mayor, Rafael García, pointed out that "the festivals will be part of the projects of the students, tour operators, and guests, and in turn, part of our dossier to declare our festivals of National Tourist Interest." Finally, he reminded that "our festivals, besides being the most important cultural expression of the municipality, are a tourist product and an economic engine. Promoting them to raise awareness and achieve the recognition they deserve is our goal."
