Mitsubishi Motors has unveiled the Grandis, its new family SUV designed specifically for the European market, which will also have a significant local distinction: its production will commence in the fourth quarter of 2025 at Renault's plant in Valladolid. With this launch, Mitsubishi expands its range and strengthens its commitment to manufacturing on European soil. The new Grandis will begin production in the fourth quarter of 2025 and will join the company's renewed vehicle lineup, led by the brand's flagship, the Outlander PHEV.

The new Grandis, whose Latin-derived name means 'large' and 'impressive', has been conceived as an ideal solution for young families seeking space, versatility, and efficiency. Its bold and secure exterior design incorporates Mitsubishi's characteristic Dynamic Shield, with a dynamic and streamlined profile, and a robust rear with horizontal LED lights that express strength.

"The SUV-C segment is the largest in Europe, and with the Eclipse Cross (BEV) and the new Grandis, we will dramatically increase our market coverage by covering a wide range of prices, a full range of electrified vehicles, the latest ADAS technology, and connectivity," stated Frank Krol, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe during the model's presentation. "The Grandis is the perfect solution for young families, offering space, versatility, the latest technology in an affordable package, and our new extended warranty of 8 years."

Inside, the Grandis combines practicality with a high level of connectivity and quality. Meticulous attention has been paid to detail, with the use of high-quality materials and a design that prioritises comfort. Its electrochromic glass roof stands out, allowing the opacity to be adjusted at the touch of a button, creating a sense of spaciousness and brightness. Space is a priority, with sliding rear seats that expand the boot capacity to 1,455 litres with the seats reclined.

The Grandis offers two propulsion options: mild hybrid (MHEV) and fully hybrid (HEV). The MHEV variant features a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 140 HP. Meanwhile, the HEV version combines a 1.8-litre petrol engine with two electric motors for a total power of 160 HP, optimising consumption and reducing CO2 emissions. This intelligent hybrid system can operate up to 80% of the time in fully electric mode in urban environments, with fuel savings of up to 40%.

The overall efficiency of the powertrain means that even at higher speeds, when the new Grandis leaves the city behind, electric mode driving is possible at speeds of up to 70 km/h. And the combined powertrain does not disappoint in terms of performance: the compact SUV can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in approximately 8.5 seconds.

The range is complemented by the new Grandis's chassis technologies. Built on the CMF-B platform of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, it combines a pseudo MacPherson configuration at the front and a semi-rigid axle with a damper at the rear, offering refinement and comfort both in the city and on long journeys.

The new Grandis offers drivers the opportunity to adjust the dynamics specifically to their needs to maximise comfort and enjoy the features the driver desires through the Multi-Sense system. With the SDA, the driver can switch between four different modes: fully customise the setup by selecting PERSO; minimise the environmental footprint with ECO mode; create the perfect balance with COMFORT mode; enhance driving pleasure, agility, and responsiveness with SPORT mode.

Safety is one of the top priorities of the new Japanese model, which incorporates a comprehensive suite of 20 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technologies. These range from the MI-PILOT (Mitsubishi Intelligent - PILOT) system for long-distance travel assistance to rear automatic emergency braking, surround view monitor, and parking assistant. The vehicle's reinforced structure, along with its eight airbags and pedestrian protection systems, ensure maximum peace of mind.

Additionally, the Grandis is fully prepared for the digital age with Google integration, offering access to Google Maps, Google Play, and Google Assistant from its 10.4-inch infotainment screen. It is complemented by a premium Harman Kardon audio system and over-the-air (OTA) updates to keep the vehicle always up to date. As a testament to its quality, Mitsubishi offers an extended warranty of 8 years (or 160,000 km) for the new Grandis, surpassing the market standard.
