During the Santa Faz pilgrimage, a miracle occurred. Jaime, a nine-year-old boy, was safely returned to his family after being lost for 15 minutes during the pilgrimage.
Upon realising the child was missing, his family approached the Cope radio station to report the disappearance. The radio team broadcasted the message, and a search operation was launched to find the boy.
Jaime went missing around 10:45 AM on Thursday, May 1st, while walking with his family on Avenida de Dénia during the Santa Faz pilgrimage. Due to the large crowd of pilgrims, the boy lost sight of his family.
The child became anxious when he couldn't find them and began searching desperately, according to Civil Guard sources involved in the search operation. Jaime's family retraced their steps, but the boy had moved from the spot, making it difficult to locate him.
The family's anxiety and desperation were palpable during the pilgrimage. They acted quickly by approaching the radio station to broadcast alerts. From the command post, established for the first time during the pilgrimage, the involved agents relayed the alert to units in service.
Authorities began searching the area both on foot and using aerial images captured by drones. Just fifteen minutes later, a pilgrim found young Jaime, who was reunited with his family.
After the ordeal, Jaime and his mother visited the Civil Guard tent to express their gratitude for the swift operation that ensured the boy's quick recovery.
Before starting the visit, remind children of the steps to take if they get lost.
It is useful to designate a meeting point in case they lose sight of the adults they are with.
Another option is to instruct them not to move from the spot where they got lost, as adults usually return to that exact point to look for them.
Alert the Security Forces as soon as possible, either by approaching a nearby officer or calling 112 immediately.
