Minor Detained for Stabbing Mother's Ex-Partner During Brawl

The National Police have detained two individuals in Ciudad Real. One of them is a 38-year-old man who was injured with a knife during a family dispute around 5:00 AM this morning at a residence located on Guadalajara Street, and the other is a 16-year-old minor, the alleged perpetrator of the stabbing.

The youngest son of the couple is the perpetrator of the knife attack, which occurred during a domestic violence episode inside the home, where the man was having an argument with his partner in the presence of their children, all of whom are minors. It was during this dispute that one of them, the 16-year-old, grabbed a knife and stabbed him.

A National Police patrol, alerted around 4:50 AM about the incident, went to the residence and, given the severity of the injuries, decided to transport him in the police car to the General University Hospital of Ciudad Real, where he was admitted in serious condition.

The man, despite being hospitalised, has been detained as the alleged perpetrator of a domestic violence offence. Additionally, he was wanted with two active warrants issued by two courts. One of them ordered his immediate imprisonment. As for the 16-year-old, he has been placed at the disposal of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office as the alleged perpetrator of the knife assault.

When asked about this incident, the Minister of Equality of Castilla-La Mancha, Sara Simón, urged "caution due to the immediacy of what happened" but also indicated that "cases like this demonstrate the suffering endured by the surroundings of abused women, especially their sons and daughters, who are also victims." Therefore, she added that "special emphasis must be placed on support efforts so that these minors can manage these harsh episodes experienced in childhood in their adult lives."

Additionally, the officers have confirmed that the detainee was wanted, with two active warrants issued by several courts. One of them included an order for immediate imprisonment.
