The Civil Guard has reported the arrest of a minor as the alleged perpetrator of the homicide of another 17-year-old minor, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, July 2, in the Alfonso XIII settlement in the town of Isla Mayor (Seville). The suspect is currently in the custody of the Civil Guard, awaiting judicial proceedings.
The victim succumbed to a stabbing with a bladed weapon at the town's bus stop around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday. According to reports from 112, the Civil Guard and emergency services confirmed the minor's death at the scene.
On Thursday, Isla Mayor observed a minute of silence attended by relatives and local residents in memory of the 17-year-old who died from the stabbing on Tuesday morning. This minute of silence was repeated at 8:00 p.m. in the settlement following the young man's funeral, after which, with tensions "running high," some residents vandalized and painted graffiti on the house of the alleged perpetrator.
NEIGHBOURS' REACTION
Residents of the town have vandalized and painted graffiti on the facade of the house of the person they consider the alleged murderer of the minor. A group of residents went to the house, which was unoccupied at the time, after the minute of silence held in the settlement at 8:00 p.m.
According to the mayor of Isla Mayor, Juan Molero, in statements to Europa Press, "tensions are high in the town, and residents went to vent their accumulated anger over the past two days," urging that "in such a difficult situation, we must let the State Security Forces and Corps do their work and assist them."
Molero explained that in a small town "everything is known," and for the residents, it was "pointing to the person they consider the alleged perpetrator, who is also a minor." The mayor noted that the young man, originally from Puebla del Río, was a "well-liked" individual in the town and regularly visited his family and friends.
