Eight years have passed since Miguel Bosé took a break from music. During this time, he stepped away from the stage due to an autoimmune condition affecting his vocal cords, yet remained in the headlines with his controversial anti-vaccine and denialist statements. These controversies, however, have not diminished his musical talent. After extensive work under the guidance of speech therapists and vocal coaches, the artist reconnected with his roots in Madrid on Tuesday, June 1st.
The Spanish pop icon, who played to a sold-out crowd, revisited his career with a repertoire filled with classics, captivating an audience at the Movistar Arena. Nearly two and a half hours of concert began with 'Mirarte' in front of more than 12,500 fans who celebrated his return, chanting his name from the stands.
"Good evening Madrid. Home. Madrid, the ground of my roots. Madrid my home. I thought I might not return, but here I am to make up for lost time," he greeted amidst ovations. The artist proposed a journey to the past, "a journey made of memories and recollections that have been trapped during this time."
'Te amaré', 'Morena mía', 'Nena', 'Solo si', and 'Hacer por hacer' were some of the songs that filled the audience with nostalgia, eager to hear him again. He performed these wrapped in white: clothes, microphone, instruments, and lights included, before moving on to 'Olvídame tú' or 'Sevilla' surrounded by flowers. An emotional journey that rejuvenated many.
One of the most special moments came with 'Nada en particular', when the artist made a plea against wars that have him "fed up." "War will continue to be war as long as it is a business; peace is not, and that's why there is no peace," Miguel reproached, who, since becoming a father, has aimed to "leave a better world for his children. More honest."
The Madrid concert is the second of the 'Importante Tour', which the performer began in Mexico earlier this year. Bosé arrived from Murcia, where he performed last weekend, and this Thursday he will be at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, continuing on Saturday, June 5th, at the Plaza de España in Seville, as part of the twenty concerts scheduled for this summer.
More than two hours of performance culminated with him dressed in yellow, singing some of his most iconic songs, 'Morena mía', 'Amante bandido', or 'Don diablo', which drove the audience wild, including Alaska and Mario Vaquerizo, Boris Izaguirre, Samantha Vallejo-Nágera with her children, Jaydy Michel, the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and family members like Palito and Lucía Dominguín. After eight long years of waiting, Miguel Bosé arrived, sang, and thrilled.
