A few days ago, the Norwegian royal house issued a statement to inform that Princess Mette-Marit was going to resume medical treatment for the chronic lung disease she suffers from, after her health condition worsened. It explained that, on previous occasions, side effects had forced the wife of the Norwegian heir to withdraw from public life, so it was possible that it could happen again, as it has.
The institution has issued a new statement announcing that Haakon's wife "is on sick leave, initially for a week." "Scheduled activities during that period will be canceled or postponed," concludes the official note.
It was in 2018 when the crown princess was diagnosed with chronic pulmonary fibrosis, a condition that leads to respiratory failure and was under control until it worsened, leading her to resume treatment for stabilization, as it currently has no cure.
Mette-Marit's leave occurred after she traveled to Germany last Monday with her husband to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Nordic Embassy in Berlin. Events where she met with Frederik and Mary of Denmark and Victoria and Daniel of Sweden.
