The Department of Environment, Infrastructure, and Territory has presented the improvement of the current public metropolitan transport service of Alicante, TAM Alacant, while finalizing the comprehensive renewal of the public service, according to a statement from the Generalitat.

The regional minister Vicente Martínez Mus in Agost has presented the new features of the CE-705 public bus transport service, which will serve a population of nearly 500,000 inhabitants in the municipalities of Alicante, Sant Joan d'Alacant, Mutxamel, El Campello, and Sant Vicent del Raspeig. Notably, it will enhance the connection with Agost and Aigües. Among the new features of the contract, which came into effect on September 1st, is an increase in service levels for Agost, with an expansion in frequency and availability of buses seven days a week, including holidays.

Martínez Mus highlighted that this improvement "represents a significant progress for the more than 5,000 inhabitants of the municipality," who now have two bus lines that connect directly to Sant Vicent del Raspeig Hospital, the University of Alicante, and the city of Alicante "365 days a year."

Additionally, a new route has been included to connect Aigües with El Campello. In summary, the regional minister emphasized that this initiative by the Generalitat provides residents of the L'Alacantí region with "higher quality public transport services, with increased frequencies and extended schedules."

Martínez Mus assured that "during this legislature we will undertake a renewal that will mark a before and after for users of TAM Alicante's public bus transport," which will feature hybrid and electric vehicles "in a clear commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility."

The Generalitat has committed to spending 11 million euros to renew this service, offering a total of 14 transport lines. "This is just the beginning of a comprehensive renewal for all metropolitan area services in Alicante that will take place during this legislature," emphasized the regional minister.
