Mercadona has reopened its store on Reyes Católicos Street in Alicante after a comprehensive renovation. The establishment has been adapted to the efficient model of the Valencian chain led by Juan Roig to enhance "excellence" in service and optimize the shopping experience. The supermarket also boasts improvements and new sections.
This renovation of the Mercadona store on Reyes Católicos, also accessible from Pintor Lorenzo Casanova Street near Plaza Séneca in Alicante, will benefit the 'bosses', as the customers are called, as well as workers, suppliers, and society in general.
The Mercadona store on Reyes Católicos features significant innovations such as the introduction of the new 'Ready to Eat' section where customers can purchase ready-to-eat meals. Additionally, a rest area with chairs and tables has been integrated for dining on freshly prepared dishes accompanied by cold drinks.
The trolleys also bring innovations at the Mercadona store on Reyes Católicos in Alicante. Two new models have been introduced, one large and the other basket-type, "much more ergonomic and lightweight." All of this is available to the 'bosses' during their usual hours, from Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The renovation of this Mercadona in Alicante has involved an investment of 1.6 million euros, with 50 suppliers participating employing over 300 people during the construction phase. The store has a staff of 45 people to provide service in its one thousand square meters of space.
The improvement works at this Mercadona in Alicante have created several common areas for employees to "enjoy greater comfort" during their breaks, as well as a more equipped dining room and "larger and more comfortable" personal lockers.
Additionally, measures have been implemented to facilitate daily tasks through the inclusion of ergonomics to eliminate overexertion. Among them, the new Mercadona checkout furniture, developed in collaboration with the Valencia Institute of Biomechanics.
Technology is also present in this Mercadona on Reyes Católicos Street through electronic devices and collaborative tools that allow workers to share information from any section of the store. This facilitates the self-management of the supermarket and speeds up processes across the entire chain.
Among the new devices, the checkout line, scales, and the use of electronic tablets replace paper for administrative tasks. This optimizes processes and provides real-time store management, facilitating decision-making and contributing to greater agility in the management of fresh products.
The new Mercadona store in Alicante also saves on its electricity bill by implementing new environmental measures that reduce energy consumption by up to 40%. The renovation works have improved thermal and acoustic insulation, optimizing materials and the thickness of walls and ceilings, with new, more efficient and environmentally friendly freezing chests.
The supermarket features an automated LED lighting system that adjusts according to zones and times of the day to achieve a "much more efficient" energy management. Additionally, the installation of photovoltaic solar panels contributes to savings and sustainability.
