Mercadona has invested over two million euros in restoring the surroundings of its stores in areas affected by DANA and its logistics centre in Riba-roja de Túria, which have been impacted by the disaster, aiming to help residents return to normalcy.
The supermarket chain has initiated this project led by the Works Department, offering cleaning and maintenance services to residents with prior authorisation from local councils. It is estimated that a total of 16 suppliers are employing more than 110 people.
Among the latest recovery efforts around stores, notable actions have been carried out in Picanya, Paiporta, Alfafar, Catarroja, and Aldaia. In the latter municipality, vehicles were removed from public roads in collaboration with authorities.
These are not the only actions undertaken by Juan Roig's company. In addition to the Great Food Collection organised by the Food Bank, which Mercadona has joined, the company is also providing financial assistance to workers affected by DANA.
Thus, Mercadona will offer aid to workers who have lost everything in their homes, up to 50,000 euros. It will also distribute 15,000 euros to those who have lost their cars or 5,000 euros to those without a motorcycle, while 5,000 euros will be allocated for small personal belongings.
